"The world is watching nervously as the coronavirus epidemic unfolds. We are all concerned about our own health and that of our families. Understandably, this pandemic is taking on proportions we have never seen before.

Your wellbeing is extremely important to us, and we all have an obligation to be there for you in these difficult times."

"Coenraad Vrolijk - Allianz Africa CEO"

Incubation period

  • A median incubation period of five to six days.
  • A range from one to 14 days.

Severity of illness

  • 80% of cases reported in China had mild to moderate disease (including non-pneumonia and pneumonia).
  • 13.8% had a critical illness.
  • 6.1% were critically ill (respiratory failure, septic shock and/or multi-organ dysfunction or failure).

Consistent estimates of risk of death for COVID-19 are still lacking and are biased due to incomplete outcome data and the fact that initial detections were mostly severe cases in most settings.

As an indication, we share with you on these graphs figures for France as of midnight on March 10, 2020.
