Allianz Africa enters a strategic partnership with Ethiopian Airlines

Casablanca | November 19, 2019

Allianz Africa and Ethiopian Airlines enter a strategic partnership which will see both companies collaborate in 5 countries: Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria.

The members of the Ethiopian Airlines “ShebaMiles” Frequent Flyer program will now benefit from a variety of insurance products offered by Allianz Africa, including Home, Motor, Travel, Life and Health. The members will earn miles for purchasing insurance products in these countries.

Since December 2011, ShebaMiles has a frequent flyer program partnership agreement with over 28 airlines including all the Star Alliance member airlines and over 80 non-airline partners (hotels, restaurants, health care institutions, car rentals, etc.). Members have the privilege to earn miles whenever they use the services of these partners. The more they fly, the higher the benefits. The accumulated miles allow them to win tickets, upgrades, access to executive lounges, additional free baggage allowance and many other privileges.

This partnership is another evidence of Allianz's commitment on the continent to set up relevant and innovative Pan African solutions in the best interest of its clients with partners such as Ethiopian Airlines.

‘‘It is through partnerships of this magnitude that we can truly bring innovative solutions and find alternative channels to provide best-in-class services to our customers. When global expertise meets Pan African experience, success is eminent and the best is yet to come’’, said Justice Thobakgale, Regional Strategy and Corporate Partnerships at Allianz Africa.

Creating more value for our esteemed customers and engaging with them in their day to day activities besides travel is the leveraging factor for developing this partnership. This partnership presents a twofold benefit where travelers find the ideal award mileage offer and are in comfort, from comprehensive insurance coverage while on the road and at home” said Mr. Anteneh Fekadu, Team Leader partnership & Alliance at Ethiopian Airlines.

Allianz is voted the number one insurer in the Interbrand Best Global Brands 2019 ranking and Ethiopian Airlines is recognized as the the leading African Aviation Group. The pair intend to offer customers the best of Allianz Africa’s expertise and protection as well as Ethiopian Airlines’ unrivalled experience and extraordinary Ethiopian courtesy.
