As a member of the High-Level Consultative Group (HLCG), Allianz continues to support the efforts aiming to strengthen the resilience of developing countries and protect the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities from the impacts of disasters.
On June 1st, the HLCG held the Fourth Meeting of the InsuResilience Global Partnership where Allianz was represented by Delphine Traoré, the Regional COO of Allianz Africa.
Delphine talked about the impact of climate change in emerging countries. For her, although many of these economies contribute the least to climate change, they are suffering most of its impact in the absence of support to mitigate the risks or transfer them to insurers.
She exhorted the governing body of the Partnership to seek for innovative and alternative ways to support the most vulnerable through various financial mechanisms. She shared as well some views from the private sector lens.
“Insurance and reinsurance companies could look into supporting premium financing through their CSR initiatives. Especially when this resonates with key sustainability objectives, e.g. caring for the vulnerable and fostering resilience to climate change”, stated Delphine Traoré.
